Peanuts also called ground nuts are one of the most popular nuts in the world and peanut oil is very popular particularly in Asian and African countries. Due to the increased popularity of these cuisines in other parts of the world it is the time to introduce peanut oil to Western countries so you could add a special touch to your meals and impress your guests.
Uppernut oil is handmade from organic peanuts, unrefined and unprocessed using a traditional method. This allows the oil to keep all the goodness and nutrients of the peanuts. Our oil is full of antioxidants, high in vitamin E and monounsaturated "good" fat and low in saturated "bad" fat, which is believed to help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol.
Uppernut Peanut Oil is made from roasted peanuts therefore, it has a distinctive mild nutty flavour and aroma and a light golden colour. While the oil has a nutty flavour it is generally a good neutral option to use for a variety of recipes as it doesn’t leave a strong aftertaste like for example coconut oil does. We have packed it carefully into dark shaded glass bottle to prevent the damage caused by the sun light and to preserve all the nutrients. Sun light is known to cause a process called oxidation, which gradually negatively impacts the value of the oil.
When buying a peanut oil, it is important to ensure that you buy the one that states “100% cold pressed peanut oil as there are a lot of blended and refined oils available on the market. Additionally, you should look out for the unrefined cold pressed oils as these have been made without the use of heat and chemicals and are therefore of the highest quantity of nutrient.
Our favourite ways to use the peanut oil are:
Stir Fry or other Asian or West-African inspired dishes - the nutty flavour of the oil enhances the complex flavours of the dishes commonly cooked in these countries and could for example be used as great substitute to sesame oil.
Roasting - whether you are roasting a meat or vegetables our oil will help you in achieving a perfect crisp and golden-brown colour.
Salad - Peanut Oil could be a perfect substitute to Olive Oil, as due to its slightly nutty flavour it could add a perfect touch and make your salad less so boring.
Our favourite recipes using the Peanut Oil are: Asian salad with crunchy veggies and peanut dressing, oven roasted vegetables and roasted meat such as chicken wings.
